Digimon Adventures Card Tactics is a collectible card game released by Bandai in Japan in 1999, built around the original Digimon Adventure anime series. The game required a proprietary electronic device called the Card Tactics Computer: two players connected their units via a cable and fed cards into the machine to execute gameplay, which incorporated both competitive multiplayer and single-player modes. The complete set contained 133 cards; starter sets included the handheld device, a connection cable, a 62-card deck, and a rulebook. The game was a commercial failure in Japan, where consumers found the hardware-dependent system and rule structure too difficult to parse, and cards featuring identical artwork but different text further compounded confusion. Bandai America did not pursue a United States release as a result of its poor domestic performance. Today the game is a notable obscurity among Digimon collectors, with sealed starter sets appearing occasionally in secondary markets as rare finds from the franchise's earliest card game period.
