Digimon Alpha Code, formally known as the Digital Monster Card Game Alpha, is the second generation of Bandai's Digimon trading card game in Japan, launched in April 2006. It replaced the earlier Hyper Colosseum series with a revised rule structure and a notable new feature: a subset of cards carried barcodes on their lower edge, making them compatible with Data Carddass arcade machines that rendered battles in a 3D environment. The standard game used 32-card decks, required at least one Level III Digimon, and limited players to three copies of any single card. Each turn proceeded through a preparation phase (drawing to a six-card hand), an evolution phase (flipping face-down cards and evolving Digimon if requirements were met), and a battle phase (resolving combat by speed and attack power). The main Alpha series ran from April 2006 through January 2008 across eight numbered Evolve sets totaling approximately 551 cards, alongside seven Battle Terminal sets and three Battle Terminal 02 sets for the arcade-compatible cards. The game was released exclusively in Japan.
