The Media Factory Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Story: Nocturne card game is a distinct product from the earlier Enterbrain version, despite sharing the Digital Devil Story branding. Released in Japan in July 2003, it was produced specifically to capitalise on the popularity of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, the landmark PlayStation 2 RPG released that same year.
The Media Factory game draws its source material from a narrower set of titles than its predecessor, focusing primarily on Devil Summoner, Soul Hackers, and Nocturne. Gameplay was redesigned with different mechanics, and the two versions are considered separate card games rather than a continuation. The line was short-lived, concluding in 2004 after only a small number of sets. Documentation in English remains extremely sparse, making this one of the more obscure entries in the Megami Tensei merchandise catalogue. Physical cards occasionally appear on Japanese secondhand markets.
