Gangan Versus is a Japanese collectible card game produced by Enix and released in 2000, drawing its characters from the publisher's Gangan Comics manga imprint. Gangan Comics, launched by Enix in 1991, served as the home of numerous popular manga series, and the card game allowed fans to collect cards featuring characters from across that roster. Individual cards from the 2000 release are documented with the ENIX 2000 copyright mark and feature artwork by specific Gangan mangaka, including Mayumi Azuma. The game was substantial enough to receive a successor product, Gangan Versus NEO, released under the Square Enix brand after the 2003 merger of Square and Enix. Gangan Versus NEO expanded the card pool and incorporated newer titles such as Fullmetal Alchemist. Starter decks for the original Gangan Versus set contained 54 cards, and booster products followed. Neither edition received an English-language release.
