HTC (Hi-Tech Combat) is widely cited as the first French collectible card game, published by FLEO editions, based in Marseille, in 1994. Players deploy mecha units to destroy those of their opponent, placing it in the tradition of mechanized-combat CCGs that proliferated in the mid-1990s following the global success of Magic: The Gathering. The game was released under the FLEO SARL copyright in 1994-1995 and was followed by a Revised Edition in 1995 as well as a separate Limited Edition print run, indicating at least two distinct sets were produced. Despite its historical distinction as France's inaugural CCG, HTC achieved modest reach beyond collector communities and has largely faded from mainstream gaming records. French-language collector sites preserve card lists and sell lot prices, and the game received renewed attention from a 2024 YouTube retrospective that described it as the premier French CCG. Little further documentation exists in English-language sources.
