Kanon is a Japanese collectible card game published in July 2000 by TI Tokyo, based on the celebrated visual novel of the same name developed by Key and released in June 1999. The visual novel follows Yuichi Aizawa, who returns to a snow-covered town and encounters young women connected to mysterious memories from his childhood, and was widely influential in shaping the emotional storytelling style of the visual novel medium. The card game frames players as gods competing to influence the fates of those characters, with victory conditions including accumulating seven or more victory points, depleting an opponent's deck, eliminating all opponent field cards, or satisfying specific card-driven conditions. Decks require a minimum of sixty cards, with a draw of seven and a hand limit of seven. The game went through several versioned releases: Ver1.00 in July 2000, Ver1.01 in approximately February 2001, Ver2.00 shortly after, and a final Ver3.00 expansion on August 31, 2001. It was sold primarily through Comiket conventions and specialist Japanese retailers.
