Mushiking Kombat Cards is a physical collectible card set produced by RTI in Indonesia, based on the Mushiking: The King of Beetles franchise originally developed by Sega as an arcade card game in Japan in 2003. The Sega original was a hybrid arcade machine and CCG in which players used physical beetle cards that could be scanned into the cabinet to initiate battles and earn new cards. As of 2008 the franchise had shipped over 20 million cards in Japan and held over 100,000 tournaments, earning a Guinness World Record for the highest number of tournaments for an arcade game. The game spread across several Asian markets including Malaysia and the Philippines, and the Mushiking property was licensed for television animation broadcast from 2005 to 2006. The RTI release represents the game's adaptation for the Indonesian market as a standalone physical card product rather than an arcade-dependent system. RTI's edition (also identified as distributed in Italy under the same RTI brand) suggests the Kombat Cards were a localized non-arcade version aimed at collectors and players who lacked access to Sega's arcade infrastructure.
