My Hero Academia (Tag Card Game) is a Japanese collectible card game published by Tomy, launched in April 2016 to accompany the debut television season of the My Hero Academia anime adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi's manga series. The game was announced at Jump Festa 2016 and released on April 23, 2016 in Japan. The base set contained ten different cards with two foil variants. A first expansion pack, The Villain Invasion, followed on June 6, 2016, and a second expansion was announced shortly after. Cards feature characters from Class 1-A alongside heroes and villains from the series, with tag-battle mechanics reflecting the series' emphasis on cooperative hero combat. Tomy priced individual packs at 150 yen plus tax, positioning the game as an affordable collectible for the anime's young audience. A separate and unrelated My Hero Academia Collectible Card Game was later published by Jasco Games for the international market, and a further Clash Heroes Battle card game was also produced; the Tomy Tag Card Game is distinct from both of those products.
