The Yo-Kai Watch Trading Card Game is a collectible card game built around the Yo-Kai Watch franchise, the hit anime and video game series produced by Level-5. Bandai launched the Japanese version in May 2014, timed with the broadcast of the television anime. The Japanese release used a standard booster structure of 5 cards per pack, with 50 distinct card types spanning normal, rare, super rare, and ultra rare tiers. Players assembled teams of yo-kai, the supernatural spirit characters at the heart of the franchise, and competed using a life-point system with streamlined rules aimed at a younger audience. The game spread internationally through Hasbro, which brought an English-language edition to Western markets in late 2016; that version launched with starter packs and 10-card booster packs but was discontinued without a second expansion wave. The Japanese Bandai run similarly wound down after a small number of sets. Both editions are now out of print and have become collector targets among Yo-Kai Watch enthusiasts.
