Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters is a physical tabletop game published by Upper Deck in the United States and derived from a fictional game featured prominently in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and 1998 Toei anime series, where it was played by antagonist Ryuji Otogi. Rather than a traditional trading card game, Dungeon Dice Monsters is a collectible dice-and-board game: each player selects a set of collectible dice representing monsters, rolls them to generate Summoning Crests, and places dungeon tiles on a 13-by-19 grid to build a maze leading toward the opponent's Monster Lord. The first player to reduce the enemy Monster Lord to zero life points wins. The physical release appeared in Japan from Konami in 2001 and reached North American shelves through Upper Deck in 2003, though it found only a limited audience and was not sustained with further expansions. The game type in this archive reflects its proximity to a physical collectible game format even without a conventional card-based deck structure.
